Out of the Shell

You are a turtle. A lonely pilot-for-hire, whose next assignment is just about to turn his world upside down, when all your childhood friends and crushes find themselves on your boat.

Out of the Shell is precisely THE game developed by the main character within the story of THIS NOVEL (also available on itch.io, give it a read!).

The game is story-complete, but with a bunch of placeholder assets.

------DEV NOTE------

So, five years ago I quite randomly stumbled upon Butterfly Soup, and it (being as fantastic and hilarious as it is) immediately inspired me to learn Ren'Py and write my own Visual Novel.

Which I did, and named it Out of the Shell.

And whilst I had the "novel" part relatively quickly figured out, the "visual" side of it was too big an undertaking for me to be able to reliably finish, even with the immense help Joanna, the kind artist, who agreed to bring my aquarian characters to life. And I really didn't want to bring any kind of AI Gen on board for that.

Thus, Out of the Shell got put on a side and gathered dust on my drive for a bit, while acting as a creative inspiration for both Liam, the main character of my book And Then I Killed A Star, and myself, who sat down and wrote the damn thing.

Right now the game is decently put together, if I do say so myself, and will probably stay as is for the forseeable future unless vox populi urges me to find the artists willing to taint their eyes and ears with space turtles in space. Still, I had a blast writing it and learning Ren'Py to bring this story and those characters to life.
